It invests a record $12.1 billion over four years towards vital health services across Tasmania, a record $8.9 billion into education, and a further $305.1 million into schools, education, and vocational training infrastructure. This budget delivers on our landmark reforms to social and affordable housing in Tasmania, providing funding to the new authority, Homes Tasmania, to build homes faster and deliver on our ambitious $1.5 billion plan to provide 10,000 new homes and units by 2032. Over the next four years, we will allocate almost $5 billion towards job-creating infrastructure projects, with a substantial $2.2 billion dedicated to the construction and improvement of roads and bridges across Tasmania. The 2023-24 Budget continues to focus on building Tasmania’s future that is strong, safe, and secure. This impressive achievement has paved the way for substantial government investments in areas that matter most to Tasmanians. It is no surprise that Tasmania has repeatedly been assessed as Australia’s best performing economy in the quarterly CommSec State of the States report. The 2023-24 State Budget is delivering opportunity for all Tasmanians. Our sensible, responsible economic management will ensure that we deliver a robust economy so that we can respond and invest where it matters most. We will continue to create more opportunities for Tasmanians in every corner of our State, making Tasmania the envy of the nation. This equates to $8.3 million in the Tasmanian health system each and every day. We are continuing this commitment to Tasmanians by investing a record $12.1 billion into our health system over four years. More than $2 billion was invested in our people and their livelihoods. We are proud of keeping Tasmanians safe and employed through the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. ![]() We have the lowest unemployment rate in Tasmanian history and have created more than 56,000 jobs since we took office.Ī strong economy supports more jobs and means we can afford to invest in the things that matter most to Tasmanians.
